These classes are designed to familiarize people to the terminology, equipment, selection, fitting, use, care, and safety procedures involved in driving a horse of any size in a 2 wheel vehicle. It is a 5 part class and serves also to prepare drivers who are interested in the Carriage Association of America’s Driver Proficiency Exam which will be hosted at Willow Grove on May 4-5th.

Each day will start at 10 and go until 4.

Each class is $50 or $200 for all 5.

The price is per pair of friends, couples, families, or small groups who work regularly together. I’ve priced this way because carriage driving is most safely participated in with 2 or more people.

Class I-Harness, parts, function, cleaning, storing, fitting including practicing harnessing

Class II-Carts, types, selection, function, care of, storing, weight and balancing a cart, spares kit

Class III-Hooking/unhooking, entering leaving a cart, heading for and helping a carriage driver

Class IV-Bit selection, function and use, rein aids, whip aids, selection, and use

Class V-Basic nutrition, horse care, grooming, road driving, arena driving (this is the only class where horses can be brought to participate)
